Once my friend given me his project report in word document. When I tried to open file , I got error and was unable to open file. I contacted to my friend and asked about it, he said he made it using MSOffice 2007 and I was using XP version. Problem was a new File Extension DOCX (.DOCX) and I hadn’t any plugin to get compatibility for my XP version of MSOffice to open DOCX files. Actually DOCX file is known as Microsoft Office XML Document. This format provide facility to use word documents with other softwares.

So make sure you are using MSOffice 2007 to open DOCX file or you will get irritated like me. Or you can use plugins provided by Microsoft to open them in older version of MSOffice.
