How to remove AOL Instant Messenger (AIM) ads ??? Remove AIM ads..
You can easily remove AIM annoying ads without using 3rd party software. This method tested only with AIM v4.x.xxxx. The main problem is AIM will download ads and place them at the top and bottom of the main AIM buddy list, which you might have seen while you logged on in AIM. Our aim is to remove those ads forever. If you find them as annoying as I do. You might be wondering How i am going to remove annoying ads in the AIM window??? Well , this requires a little man work..
1)First Browse to your main AIM directory and open the file named AIM.ODL in notepad. Make sure that your AIM is not currently loaded.You can remove ads only when your AIM is not currently loaded.
2) Scroll down. You can see the below lines:
on_group(5)
{
load_ocm advert required
}
on_group(11)
{
load_ocm advert required
}
3)Now remove the lines inside the brackets, but leave the carriage returns (empty lines).
If you had followed the above line correctly then these lines should now look like this:
on_group(5)
{
}
on_group(11)
{
}
4) Now save the changed file in a notepad and close it. If you have done everything right then you cannot see annoying ads whenever you logged on AIM. You can see two blank spots at the top and bottom of your main AIM buddy list.
