how to remove Remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP without touching the Registry??
NetBIOS is a session layer communication service used by client and server applications in IBM token ring and PC LAN networks. The main purpose of removing NetBIOS (Network Basic Input/Output System) from TCP/IP is to have increased system security and possible increased transfer speed. NetBIOS provides many applications. Major applications with programming interface for sharing services and information across a variety of lower layer network protocols. Before reading the below steps first you make sure you are NOT already using the NetBIOS protocol network/LAN/WAN etc. If you are any network or protocol it will seriously impair your connection. Below steps will explain you How to Remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP without touching the Registry..
Remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP without touching the Registry:
1.Open Network Properties.
2. Install Microsoft NetBeui only if you have peer-to-peer network for sharing files. And set this to default protocol.
3.Change the Log on type to Windows Log on.
4.Now Restart your system.
5.Open Network Properties.
6. For EVERY TCP/IP occurrence: select Properties -> Bindings -> uncheck Microsoft Network and File/Print Sharing EVEN for TCP/IP Dial-Up Adapter.
Windows will complain that you have not bound TCP/IP to anything, but when it asks if you want to bind it to something, click No.
7. Again restart when promoted.
8. Now open Network Properties.
9. Now check to make sure that NetBIOS is unchecked in ALL TCP/IP properties, if it is checked, uncheck it, and then reboot if necessary.
Now you have removed NetBIOS from TCP/IP. Now all your file/print sharing is done by NetBeui, which is inaccessible from the internet.

Well i will not the above method to remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP. There is a much simpler way to remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP. We can easily turn on/off NetBIOS. You have to Just rename the file %windir%\SYSTEM\VNBT.386 to something else. Restart your system. Now your NetBIOS is disabled ![]()
NetBIOS ports will be closed. Few NetBIOS ports are nbname (UDP port 137), nbsession (TCP port 139) etc etc. If you want LAN then just rename it again to VNBT.386 and reboot..
I hope you like trick. From the second method You can easily Remove NetBIOS from TCP/IP.
