How to use spam filters in lotus notes?
If you consider your data to be more protected,then it is better to use spam filters.Spam filters will not allow any spam to enter in your system.Actually the word spam directs to unsolicited junk e-mail which can be sent to large numbers to promote products.It is tough to decide for human which messages are spam and which are legitimate email.
Enabling/Disabling the spam filters in Lotus Notes:
It is so easy to enable and disable spam filters in lotus notes.You can periodically check “spam” folder as shown below.It is better to gaurd regularly.As shown below a new menu “spam”will open in “Actions” menu in thenotes client.

Spam menu will only works When you are viewing your email rather than your calender for instance.You will be receiving “Action Failed” message when your viewing calender or any other folder in spam.The spam menu is having
following options:
- Disable All Filters-This will completely turnoff all spam filtering.
- Enable Aggressive Filter-This will create SPAM folder in ACTIONS and filters all spam emails.
- Enable Standard Filter-This will create SPAM folder in ACTIONS and filters all spam emails.
- Help - It redirects to this web page.
To start filtering for any email just select “Enable Standard Filter“.This will create “SPAM” sub option in “ACTIONS“. If spam option is not visible to you then restart your notes.
It will automatically deletes all spam messages which are 30days old.It is important that you review the messages in the SPAM folder or you will lose legitimate email that you have put there. If you find any messages which are spam you can move it to spam folders.As shown below.If all your messages are moving by the spam filter to spam folder then your messages are not considered to be spam,you can copy these messages by creating a rule to move messages meeting a particular criteria in to your “INBOX” as shown below.
